The Largest Truck - Caterpillar 797F Series

        The "off road" Caterpillar 797F series is considered the largest truck in the world with the highest load capacity and can carry up to 400 tons. 


      The Caterpillar 797 is a series of off-road, produced specifically for high production mining. 

        Began in 1998 Series 797. In 2002 was launched in 2008 and 797B, the current model 797F. 


        Caterpillar announced the first 797 on September 29, 1998 at the factory in Decatur, Illinois. In 1998, the first 2 Caterpillar 797 were transported to the proving ground in Arizona. 


          In 1999, the third and fourth 797 produced were the first to be placed in service to a customer in the Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah, with capacity to carry 360 tons. 


         In the spring of 2002, Caterpillar introduced the 797B, replacing the first generation 797.This with more power, capable of carrying 380 tons. The first 797B, entered the service of customers in October 2002. 


        In September 2008, came the latest and most powerful version of the series with a load capacity of 400 tons, 797F. 

          The tire of 4 meters is $ 40,000. 


         Although the price varies according to the specifications of each customer, Caterpillar 797F costs around U.S. $ 5.6 million.
